Haddock is a saltwater ray-finned fish from the Cod family. It is the only species in the monotypic genus Melanogrammus. Our Haddocks are wild-caught in the North Atlantic coast surrounding Canada. Haddock has a mildly sweet taste with lean, white flesh and medium flakes. After cooking, the texture is firm yet tender. When compared to cod, Haddock has a finer flake and a more tender texture with a slightly sweeter flavor. Additionally, Haddock is rich in minerals that help to build bone strength and regulate your heart rate, and this includes everything from selenium (which has been reported to help prevent cancer, heart disease, diabetes and a weak immune system). Moreover, our Haddocks are skin and bone removed and packed tightly to be ready deliver to your door!
IQF stands for Individual Quick Frozen. IQF results in a higher quality product compared to block freezing. It's good for food sustainability, as you can defrost and use the exact needed quantity instead of thawing the whole block.
