- The Sockeye Salmon, also called red salmon, kokanee salmon, or blueback salmon, is an anadromous species of salmon that usually inhabit in Northern Pacific Ocean and rivers discharging into it. Although it seems a bit smaller than other varieties, the sockeye salmon fillet is still prized by its brilliant blood-orange color, flavor and texture. It's not as fatty as Chinook, but its texture is still dense, firm, fatty and buttery, and it offers a rich, pure, and fishy flavor.
