The Atlantic Cod is a benthopelagic fish of the family Gadidae, is a medium to large saltwater fish, normally found throughout the North Atlantic. This cod lives in lives in a wide variety of habitats and water depths, but tends to be found closer to the substrate at the bottom of the water. The Atlantic Cod has a slightly sweet taste, with large flakes that fall apart easily when cooked. The Cod has less moisture content, a firmer texture, and generally a larger market size. This Cod fish fillet also provides a huge source of protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins (B12, B6, A, E, and C), and niacin. Additionally, it is a good source of phosphorus, potassium, selenium, and other trace minerals that help to prevent stokes, controls high blood pressure, against Alzheimer’s disease, and support heart health.
